The baobab tree is native to most of Africa , some part in Australia as well as the island of Madagascar.Its botanical name is Adonisia digitata . Its been used for centuries for medicinal purposes as well as a food .Its the snack for the young boys as the head cattle and goats in the veld, the food for the hunters as they go about looking for a protein feed for the family, the powder which the mothers would grind for to feed the toddlers.
Baobab powder is versatile in its uses , has a tangy caramel taste .It has many medicinal properties that its eluded to but the following uses have been scientifically validated,

- improves skin texture , its high in vitamin C which help the body to make elastin and collagen which help to support the skin and elasticity.

Whipped Baobab Shake
- ¼ cup Baobab Powder
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup rice milk or almond milk
- 1 Tbsp honey
In a large bowl whisk together baobab powder and water until the powder dissolves. Whisk in milk and honey. Adjust the amount of honey if you would like a sweeter drink. A garnish of mint leaves makes it quite refreshing.
Mango-Bab Lassi
- ¾ cup plain greek-style yogurt, regular or non-fat
- 1 ¼ cup mango nectar
- 1 mango diced or half a cup of frozen mango pieces
- 2 Tbsp Baobab Powder
Whisk together yogurt and mango nectar. Pour the mixture into a blender and add chopped mango and baobab powder. Puree until smooth. Add ice cubes for an extra chill.
Antioxidant Breakfast Smoothie
- 1 cup 100% Pomegranate Juice
- ¾ cup skim milk or almond milk
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 large banana
- 2 Tbsp almonds
- 2 Tbsp Baobab Powder
Blend pomegranate juice, milk, ice cubes and banana until all liquids are mixed well together. Add almonds and baobab powder and mix until well blended.
Popeye Smoothie
- 2 cups spinach
- 1 mango or half a cup of frozen mango pieces
- 1 banana
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tbsp Baobab Powder
Mix all ingredients into the nutribullet. Blend all ingredients together for desired consistency.
The Ultimate Smoothie
- 1 banana
- ½ of a raw beet
- ½ of an apple
- 1 Tablespoon carob powder or carob
- a handful of kale
- 2 cups rice milk or almond milk
- 3 Tablespoons Baobab Powder
- 5 ice cubes
- a small piece of raw ginger
Blend all ingredients on high speed for 1 minute. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!

- Half cup frozen blueberries
- Half a banana
- 1 cup almond milk or rice milk
- 2 Tablespoons of baobab powder
- 2 ice blocks
- Blend all ingredients together at high speed .Serve in a glass

- 1 cup frozen mangoes
- ½ cup blueberries
- 1 tablespoon green powder
- 2 tablespoons baobab powder
- ½ cup almond milk or lactose free milk or rice milk
